TALVISODAN TUTKIMUSKENTTÄ
Suomessa on huomattava joukko yksityisiä sotahistorian harrastajia ja tutkijoita, jotka ovat tehneet vuosikausien aikana vielä merkittäviä havaintoja talvisodasta.
Mielestäni pääasia on kuitenkin uuden tiedon ennakkoluuloton kaivaminen ja erilaisten näkökulmien sisäinen sietäminen ja tietysti rohkeimmillaan jopa saadun uuden tiedon esilletuominen. Asiayhteyksiä voi vapaassa maassa spekuloida ja puida kukin kulloisenkin mielentilansa mukaan, vaikka sitten aina ”oppiriitoihin” asti. Tähän mennessä kertyneet tiedot avaavat kenties tietä myös jälkipolvien uteliaille etsijöille, jotka hakevat mahdollisia vastauksia olemassa ololleen sekä kansakunnan arvomaailmalle. Siinä sitä onkin mielenkiintoista työsarkaa riittämiin.

WINTER WAR RESEARCH FIELD
In Finland, there is a considerable number of private military history enthusiasts and researchers who have made significant observations about the winter war over the years.
However, in my opinion, the main thing is open-minded digging for new information and internal tolerance of different points of view, and of course, in the bravest cases, even bringing new information to the fore. In a free country, you can speculate and argue about the connections according to your current state of mind, even to the point of "doctrinal disputes". The information accumulated so far will perhaps also open the way for the curious searchers of future generations, who are looking for possible answers to their existence and the nation's world of values. That's enough interesting work.

Tein aikoinaan periaatepäätöksen ja päätin tutkimusmatkojeni alkuvaiheessa, etten aio häiritä vainajien hautarauhaa, vaikka tiesin useita korpimetsien aarrekätköjä. Kaikki sotavainajat, jotka kansallisuuteen katsomatta ovat kristillisen papistomme aikoinaan kentälle kaatuneina siunaamia

DECISION IN PRINCIPLE
I once made a principled decision and decided at the beginning of my research trips that I wasn't going to disturb the peace of the dead, even though I knew of several treasure caches in the raven forests.
All the war dead who, regardless of nationality, were blessed by our Christian clergy when they fell
on the field - may they rest in peace.
The author is swimming in Suomussalmi and just about to climb to the top of Palovaara, where I/JR 65 once got hold of a huge booty. The highway leads to Juntusranta. Lake Kiantajärvi is in the background.
TAKAUTUVIA TAUSTATIETOJANI TUTKIMUSMATKANI VARRELTA
Olen Väinö Mononen, syntynyt vesimiehen merkeissä vuonna 1957 Kiihtelysvaarassa Pohjois-Karjalassa, perheellinen mies ja naimisissa yli 35 vuotta.
Vuosien kuluessa on syntynyt neljä lasta, jotka ovat jo maailmalla omilla teillään. Vaatimattoman työurani aikana olen työskennellyt pääasiassa liike-elämän parissa muun muassa myynnin ja markkinoinnin parissa.
Varusmiespalveluni suoritin Kainuun prikaatissa, jota kautta minusta kasvoi suomalainen reserviupseeri, joka toimi myöhemmin useita vuosia vapaaehtoisen maanpuolustuksen saralla
tiedottajana ja sekä reserviläislehden päätoimittajana samalla kiertäen ja osallistuen lukuisiin kertausharjoituksiin ympäri Pohjois-Karjalan maakuntaa.
Sen ohessa aloin kuljeskella paljon myös Kainuun korpimaisemissa, etenkin Kuhmossa, jossa isänikin asui. Luonnonrauha ja ehtymättömät erämaat vetivät yhä enemmän puoleensa. Kaikki vähäisinkin vapaa-aika vaimon kanssa kului Kuhmon erämaissa, jonne piti hommata jo oma piilomajakin. Maastossa kulkiessani en voinut olla huomaamatta sammaleen peittämiä talvisodan arpia.
Eipä ihme, että kiinnostuin pian tosissaan noista menneistä tapahtumista. Suomalainen kun ei usko, ennen kuin itse omin silmin näkee ja omin korvin kuulee.
Niin kävi minullekin. Vuosien kuluessa muistinvaraisia tapahtumia alkoi kertyä niin paljon, että niitä piti tallentaa kirjalliseen muotoon. MY BACKGROUND INFORMATION THROUGHOUT MY RESEARCH JOURNEY
I am Väinö Mononen, born under the sign of Aquarius in 1957 in Kiihtelysvaara in North Karelia,
a family man and married for over 35 years. Over the years, four children have been born, who are already on their own paths in the world. During my modest working career, I have mainly worked in business, for example in sales and marketing.
I completed my conscript service in the Kainuu brigade, through which I became a Finnish reserve officer, who later worked for several years in the field of voluntary national defense as a spokesperson and as the editor-in-chief of the reservist newspaper, while traveling and participating in numerous refresher exercises around the province of North Karelia.
Along with that, I also started walking a lot in Kainuu raven landscapes, especially in Kuhmo, where my father also lived. The peace of nature and the inexhaustible wilderness attracted more and more people. All the little free time with my wife was spent in the wilderness of Kuhmo, where we had to
get our own hideaway. Walking through the terrain, I couldn't help but notice the moss-covered scars
of the winter war.
No wonder I soon became seriously interested in those past events. A Finn does not believe until he
sees with his own eyes and hears with his own ears.
That happened to me too. Over the years, so many remembered events began to accumulate that they had to be recorded in written form. For this reason, I have previously written and published the non-fiction books Death alley run (Alfamer 2006) - Flames of underworld (Edico 2011) - The war road of
a battalion (Books on Demand 2016) - Dolin's ski brigade (Books on Demand 2018) - Fire and flint
